What is STEAM, the Black Tiger Way?

STEAM uses what students have learned in school to solve real world problems, big or small, local or global, or anything that students are passionate about, through curiosity, innovation, and creativity.

Opportunities for ALL:

As the school district evolves, all learners throughout our community will have access to high quality STEAM activities.

Exploration, inquiry, and experimentation:

Learners need hands-on time to play, explore, and grow through technology. Through this exploration, they grow their individual and team capacities to be technological explorers and creators. The refinement of these skills allows students to engage with technology effectively across the curriculum and their lives.

Problem, project, and service-based learning:

Learners will use design thinking to solve complex, real-world problems. They will develop skills by implementing a systematic approach to solving problems. This allows for iterative improvements and persistive growth through trial and error. Students must develop an ability to apply this thinking to serve others, making their world a better and more sustainable place.

Authentic Collaboration:

Authentic collaboration is a well-defined group of two or more individuals coming together to achieve a common goal. This is characterized by a commitment to building, nurturing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships; joint responsibility and accountability for success. Ultimately this group works together to share resources and reap rewards. The Black Tiger Pride authentic collaboration consists of the 4 well-defined roles of: project manager, engineer, logistics, and scientist.

Re-imagining Instruction:

Transforming instruction and deepening learning by giving life to the content standards using the three pillars of the Black Tiger Way STEAM education.
