GoGuardian/Lightspeed Classroom Replacement TRIAL

When our district replaced Securly with Lightspeed as our content filter over the 2023 summer, they chose the Lightspeed Classroom Management tool that was supposed to give teachers powerful insight and control into what is happening on their students' devices. However, a change was necessary after an unstable first semester with the product.

Hapara Highlights is the new tool we are piloting. If you wish to learn more or are eager to get started, following the steps below:

Step 1: Go to Hapara

Log in at https://app.hapara.com/ with your Google account

Step 2: Google Classroom

Hapara is able to sync with your Google Classroom rosters, so first make sure you have created Google Classrooms for each class that you teach, and that you have invited (or given the students the code) to join.

You can create a custom class if you choose to.

Step 4: Additional Information

Schedule

You can schedule sessions to share links or guide browsing. Click on Highlights > Schedule > Schedule a session.

Remember to modify any scheduled sessions when your schedule changes.

Releasing Student from a Guided Session

If a student is with you who was in a Guided Session with another teacher, you will see an icon next to their name. If you click on that icon, you will have the option to release the student from that Guided Session.

This could also be helpful if you are running a Guided Session while students are taking a test. When each of them finishes, you can release them individually as they finish.

You will also see a message at the top of the screen to "Release all" students who are in a Guided Session.
