Have a look at Proverbs 27 verse 9.
The sweet smell of perfume can make you feel good, but true friendship is better.
When friends mix in with us, they add something special to our lives, making them better.
I think most people would agree that the special ingredients made the cookies from the last lesson taste better.
If we compared our lives to the cookies, how might the special ingredients be like friends?
Participate in reading activities given by your teacher (reading cards, reading groups, Article-a-Day or independent reading).
As you read your reading cards, or Article-a-Day, or your own book, think about what connections you can make with things in your own life or other books you have read, and see if that helps you to understand better what the author is talking about.

Telling is quick and easy but showing is much more powerful.
‘Walk a mile in their shoes’ – describe the topic or event from the perspective of someone the reader can relate to (point of view).
Paint word pictures – show the reader what you see, hear, touch, taste, smell and feel (emotions)
Ask students to raise a hand when they spot one of the ‘show’ techniques in action.
Get each group to share their thoughts with the class.
Spend 5 minutes practising the time table you are learning for this week.
