Participate in reading activities given by your teacher (reading cards, reading groups, Article-a-Day or independent reading).
As you read your reading cards, or Article-a-Day, or your own book, think about what the main idea of each text is.

A third way to show the position of something is to use a grid.
Then discuss coordinates:
Complete this "Funtastic Park" page and glue it into your Maths scrapbooks:
Watch these video clips.
This is a fun look at how coordinates work. And coordinates is the Maths word for how you describe the spaces or lines for the Battleships game.
Now click on the image beside this, and follow through the 7 sections on the left hand side.
If you have time, play a game of battleships with a partner.
You will need some grid paper from your teacher, and you need to hide/find:
1 Aircraft carrier 5 squares
2 Battleships 4 squares each
3 Cruisers 3 squares each
4 Submarines 2 squares each
Ball drills such as kicking to each other and hand passes will be conducted prior to playing a game.
The teacher will sit down with their group and go through the rules of the game and how to play. Once all students are clear on how to play/the expectations you will have a game with the teacher refereeing.
