Meeting Tab Options

People

The People tab allows the participants to see a list of everyone in the Meet. All participants are able to "Add People" to the Meet as well as pin and hide a user, but only the Host of the Meet will have access to Host controls and be able to mute and remove participants.

Chat

All participants have access to the chat during a Google Meet session. Participants simply have to type in the chat box and click send or enter to have their thoughts shared with others. If a recording takes place during the Meet session, any chat that occurs during that time will also be recorded and saved as a transcript in the Host's Google Drive. Only the Host is able to turn the chat ON/OFF for Meet sessions.

Activities

Google Meet's newest feature allows Host's to launch Polls, Q&A sessions, and even split up participants into Breakout Rooms. Although each participant has access to the Activity tab, only the Host is able to launch or begin each of these features. Click here or click the icon to access our section devoted to Google Meet activities!

Host Controls

Google Meet provides an easy access shield icon in the bottom right corner of the toolbar that allows the Host of the meet to turn on or off features for participants. These features include the ability to send chat messages, share screen, and the ability to ask to join a Meet.

Options & Settings:

Some of the options and settings differ since the most recent update; however, most have stayed consistent with the previous mode of Google Meet.
