Video and Audio Editing

CCPS has approved several applications for creating videos and audio tracks.

Audacity

Audacity is an easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder and the recordings can be exported into a variety of audio formats, including .mp3, .wav and others. It is available for all CCPS students and staff and can be downloaded from the Software Center on your CCPS computer. Also needed is the LAME Encoder which also can be downloaded from the Software Center. Here are directions: Audacity for CCPS.

Windows 10 Video Editor

Windows 10 Video Editor is an easy video editing tool included in Windows 10 and replaced the popular application, Movie Maker. It is also connected to the Photos app in Windows 10. OpenShot

OpenShot is a step above Video Editor but anyone who has experience with video editing principles should be ready to use OpenShot. It is available in the Company Portal for download and is approved for students and staff. One limitation is that it does not allow for voice recording within the application. If you install it, you will get a message about a firewall exception and will be asked to provide an admin username and password. Simply cancel that message window and OpenShot should launch. for links to tutorials. Here’s step-by-step directions for creating a basic Open Shot video.

Shotcut

Shotcut is a video editor that is more advanced than OpenShot, but not as advanced as Adobe Premiere Elements or Premiere Pro CC. A cool feature is the ability to use chroma key or green screen effects. It is available in the Software Center and is approved for students and staff. Shotcut allows for voice narration. Microsoft Office Mix

Microsoft Office Mix is an add-on ribbon to PowerPoint and can be used to do a screen capture of your computer as well as other functions. You can install it from the Software Center on your CCPS computer.

Adobe Premiere Elements

Adobe Premiere Elements is an advanced video editing application and is available for purchase at an educational discounted rate. Advanced video editors can also purchase a license for the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite which includes audio and video editing applications. Please contact Tech Services for the latest quote.
