Week of May 4-8
Week of May 4-8
iPad Reminder:
Students are expected to come to school with their iPads charged to 80% or higher. We’ve noticed several students arriving with batteries under 20%, which requires charging during class and interrupts learning. If a student comes to school three or more days in a week below 80%, they will receive a written assignment and will not be able to take their iPad home. This may result in incomplete work if they cannot access their homework. Please help your child come prepared each day to ensure a smooth and productive learning experience! Thank you!
Writing Assignment Reminder: ✏️
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, excitement is building! With that energy, we are noticing that some students need extra reminders to stay focused and make positive behavior choices throughout the day.
I wanted to share a quick reminder about our classroom expectations. If a student receives three marks in a day, they will be given a writing assignment to help reflect on their choices and reset for the next day. We’ve noticed that some marks are happening across different classes, with students having difficulty adjusting their behavior as they transition from one class to the next.
Additionally, if a student receives three writing assignments in a trimester, they become ineligible for honor roll.
Our goal is to support students in making consistent, positive choices, and we appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. Thank you for your continued support as we finish the year strong!

Our Learning This Week
Math: Mrs. Bennett
As we begin our final math unit of the school year, students will be exploring the world of decimals! We will learn how fractions and decimals are related and practice representing fractions with denominators of 10 and 100 as decimals. Students will build understanding of place value by identifying and comparing tenths and hundredths, as well as learning how the value of a digit changes depending on its place in a number. Using base-10 blocks, place value charts, number lines, and visual models, students will model decimals and connect them to our base-10 number system. Throughout the unit, students will use important math vocabulary such as decimal point, equivalent, numerator, denominator, tenths, hundredths, expanded form, standard form, and compare. We are excited to finish the year by strengthening our number sense and deepening our understanding of how decimals are an important concept in the real-world!

Grasp that God infuses grace in us and gives us His supernatural virtues to heal and elevate us.
Begin to understand that living according to the Beautitudes will lead to true happiness in this life and perfect happiness to the next.

Several schools collect food for low-income students who might not otherwise have food over the weekends. The program is called Blessings in a Backpack. There is a link below that you and your student(s) can sign up for. The volunteers simply walk around to each item putting it in a bag. One location is Alex R. Kennedy Elementary which is close to Ascension.
