Test 1- 109 in

Test 2- 105 in (4 in away from shot 1)

Test 3- 99 in (10 in away from shot 1)

Test 4- 80 in (29 in away from shot 1)

Test 5- 90 in (19 in away from shot 1)

Test 6- 97 in (12 in away from shot 1)

Test 7- 97 in (12 in away from shot 1

Procedure

1. create the base

2.make the arm of the catapult

3. connect the arm and the base

4.secure it with rubber bands

5. glue a bottle cap on

6. Create a tinfoil ball to launch

7. See if i can fix anything to make it launch farther

8.Measure

Question

How far can a catapult launch?

Hypothesis

For my science fair project I decided to make a catapult. My hypothesis was that it would launch at least 10ft. I think it will launch 10 ft because I only put 1 rubber band around the the popsicle stick that will be launching the tinfoil ball. Only one rubber band will make it looser causing it to launch farther.

Abstract

In the past catapults were used to destroy buildings in the medieval times. My goal was to make a catapult alike the ones they used in that time period. My goal was to launch the catapult at least 10 ft. While I was building the model I thought it would easily reach this maybe even farther

The materials I used for my design was 13 popsicle sticks, 3 rubber bands, and a gatorade bottle cap. How I made this design was first stack 12 popsicle sticks and then tie a rubber band around them Next, I put one stick over the 12 sticks as the popsicle stick I would be using to launch the tinfoil ball. Lastly, I hot glued the bottle cap onto the one stick.

The average distance of all my measurements was 96.7. I launched my catapult 7 times. At the end I measured my first shot from the rest of my shots to find the average spread. The average spread was 14.3 in.

In conclusion my hypothesis was incorrect but not far off at all. My hypothesis was that it would launch 10 ft

Conclusion

In conclusion my goal to make a catapult went well. My hypothesis was wrong but not by a lot. My hypothesis was it would launch 10 ft. The catapult launched 9.1 feet long.

Problem

In this project I was trying to build a catapult out of rubber bands and popsicle sticks. My goal was to launch it as far as possible.
