7 How Much Weight Can String ,Yarn, and Twine Can Hold

Question: How Much Weight Can Yarn, String, and Thread Hold?

Hypothesis: I think that the yarn is going to take the victory, and maybe the string.

Procedure:

    1. Tie the string, yarn, and thread on a weight and push it off of a table

    2. Gather weights

    3. Get string, yarn, and thread that's the same except different brands

    4. Make an hypothesis

    5. Calculate the best brand to either fish with or hold heavy things with

I will measure which material is stronger by adding weight until the line breaks.

I will make it a fair test by using the same amount of weight and put weights on them at different times. My dad could help me with putting on the weights at the same time. Then I would repeat the test.

Conclusion: The yarn and the string both did exactly what I wanted. Both held the weights. The weights were 0.5 lbs and 2.5 lbs. I estimated that the yarn would do the best. It was correct.

Abstract:

How Much Weight Can A Either String, Thread, or Yarn Hold

I wanted to calculate how much weight string thread and yarn can hold. My hypothesis was that the yarn would hold the best because it is thick, strong and big. I chose this project because I really like fishing and I’m interested in finding if string, yarn, and thread could hold enough weight to go fishing.

I decided to do my experiment by tying the materials on the bucket and then put things inside the bucket to weigh it. I would keep adding physical weight until one of the materials snap. This project consists on two people one to hold the material while the other puts the weight weight in the bucket.

The data that I got was very observing. The string and the yarn didn't snap but the twine did. For the yarn and the string it didn’t snap at 3.0 lbs. The thread snapped at 0.5 lbs.

My hypothesis was correct partially because I guessed the yarn would do the job, well the string also did the job. I learned that you can fish with string possibly because it is like a fishing line! I think my project was pretty accurate because I did it correctly, and the only error that could happen was someone getting hurt my dropping the bucket on themselves. I could improve this project by using yarn and fishing line, and see which one holds up the best.
