Question:
Which football glove helps you catch better.
Hypothesis:
I thought Under Armor would help you catch better because I watch a lot of football and I see NFL players use them more often then any other brand.
Procedure:
1: Put glove under a block of wood with a 2.5 weieigt on it
2: Pull glove back with a spring scale
3: See how much newtons it takes to pull it back
4: Test 5 times for each glove
Conclusion
I found out that Under Armor helps you catch the best. Under Armor needed 1.35 newtons. Nike 1.17 newtons to pull it. Wilsion needed 1.10 newton to pull it. Addidas needed .90 newtons.
Abstract:
Which Football Gloves Make You Catch Better?
Every Sunday, Monday, Thursday, sometimes even on Saturday I have been watching NFL football since I was about 5 years old. In that span have have seen some amazing plays on offence and defense. I have always wondered how do wide receivers like Odell Beckham jr., Antonio Brown, and Rob Gronkowski catch balls like the way they do. Is it natural ability, speed, power, or the GLOVES. For my science fair experiment I tested which gloves would make you catch better. I hypothesized that under armor gloves help the most because I have seen more NFL receivers catch footballs with under armor than any other brand.
I did my experiment by putting a glove on a surface then I put a block of wood on the glove, and to make sure the wood block didn't move I put a 1 pound weight on the wood. Next I attached the spring scale to the glove and pulled back to see how much force was needed to move the glove. This is tested 5 times for each glove.
My test showed that Under Armour helps you catch better according to my research. Under Armour needed 1.35 newtons to pull it. Nike needed 1.17 to pull it. Wilson needed 1.10 to pull it. And Adidas needed .90 to pull it.
This test showed that my hypothesis was correct. Under Armour helps you catch better. I think I could improve my test by testing a wider variety of gloves. Besides that I think this project was a big success
