Thinking about Post-AmeriCorps Life

Post date: Mar 4, 2014 10:34:39 PM

I am considering 2 different graduate school programs that use skills that I have learned in college and in the AmeriCorps. I will announce my decision when I make it next month. It's amazing how time flew this year. The end of service is in mid-July, and I am on track to getting my hours in.

My morning ESOL classes are expanding with more and more students everyday. Since I can't do formal assessments at the library yet, students sometimes walk in confused, but they used to my routines. My GED classes are stabilizing. My students are getting introduced to a variety of test taking strategies and content that could be on the test. I don't have enough computers for them, so share website URLs that I think they can benefit from. My evening English & Math class has new faces every Tuesday. It's quite interesting. It creates a challenge too.

I am organizing a field trip for my students. Next month, we will be going to an art museum in a bigger city using the public transportation system. I don't mind paying $4 for this trip if students are willing to pay the same amount.
