Graduation and Moving Out

Post date: Jul 14, 2014 6:23:21 PM

This past week has been very busy. Even on Thursday, new students were wanting to sign up for English and GED classes. I am sure the new AmeriCorps member will have a lot of work to do next year. On Friday, I attended the AmeriCorps graduation, which was short and sweet. Afterwards there was an after party, where the Esprit de Corps committee showed off their superlative awards and a video yearbook. Over the past month and a half, a couple of AmeriCorps members and I bought and put together vintage picture frames from thrift shops throughout the county and put a group picture in for everyone. This past weekend has been fun. However, I am very busy with packing and shipping boxes home. My father and brother will be here tonight to help me pack up, clean the bedroom and bathroom, and drive back to New Jersey this week. After 11 months of service, I can say that the only things that kept me out of debt are the gift cards I received from people who care about me.

I will be living in NJ for first time in a long time. At home, I will have a job shadow opportunity at my hometown public library system along with 2 different job interviews. In early August, I am planning to visit college friends in Nebraska and Iowa before moving to Rutgers University later that month. I am excited about the new chapter in my life: graduate school. During my year at Rutgers, I will create a YouTube channel and do food reviews. I will be sure to post the YouTube link in the coming months.
