200 Hours Left

As of today, I will pass the 1,500 mark. I need to complete 1,725 hours to get a scholarship for graduate school. May will be a hectic month with 2 field trips this week and a graduation party at the end of the month. I have decided to keep teaching until July 10th, my last day at the library. Since I am the only adult literacy services instructor at the library, I will not have the opportunity to have a substitute teacher come in unless another AmeriCorps member decides to take over my class. I will start shipping boxes home in June to make the move easier in July. My English and GED classes are going well. New students keep joining the program. I have helped over 170 adults in some way since September. That's a great accomplishment. I have also landed a job shadow opportunity this summer in my hometown library. I can use my AmeriCorps experience and this job shadow opportunity to help me excel in my Master of Library and Information Science program, which I will start this Fall at Rutgers University - New Brunswick.
