Library and Information Science Experience
I had been volunteering in libraries since elementary school, but I didn't think of librarianship as a career choice until my service year in the 2013 - 2014 Literacy AmeriCorps of Palm Beach County, where I developed the Adult Literacy Services at the Boynton Beach City Library and participated in many service projects around South Florida. I used my Segal Education Award (the AmeriCorps grant) to obtain my Master of Library and Information Science degree at Rutgers University and launch my career as a science librarian at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2019, the American Library Association New Member Round Table identified me as an Alternative Voice in librarianship.
