BUG: KB915597 Error 8050800C
Apparently, one of the Windows Update related to Windows Defender is broken. If you encounters this issue, you can fix it using this guide.
Step 1 and 2 - Verify The Error
The first 2 steps are to verify the same error we're talking about. Otherwise, you might run into trouble.
- Bring up your
Windows UpdatebySTART > type "Windows Update" > select. - Verify the error code is
8050800C. It is shown in Step 1. - Select the "
View update history" on the sidebar. (P/S: Sorry, forgotten to highlight it.) - Verify the failed package is Windows Defender Antivirus with the code
KB915597. It is shown in Step 2.
If all are correct, then proceed to next step. Otherwise, you should stop now as we are not on the same page.
Step 3 - Download the Windows Defender's Latest Definition Manually
Go to microsoft official site at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/definitions and download the latest definition. Please make sure you download the correct:
- Windows (Windows 7)
- Processor Type (32-bit / 64-bit)
Once done, install it and then restart the computer as requested by the Windows Update.
Step 4 - Check Error Again
Once you're back, bring up your Windows Update and Check for update. You should not see the same error again.
