DEB Packager

This guide is related to how to pack your Linux software in a .deb packager. Keep in mind that it is operating system specific, which is Debian distribution and its derivative itself. I based myself in the vanilla Debian packing process mainly due to 1 reason:

  • If it works on Debian stable branch; it works in every distribution.

Correct Development Attitude

You must learn to read the document and its policy in the official New Maintainer Guide. All Debian developers and advocates are voluntary efforts and you must be as independent and resourceful as they do.

You must also learn how to review your efforts with the Debian Policy Manual and solving the detected Lintian issues. This way, you can ensure the package is close to accuracy and allows your peer to review your efforts easily.
