For this assignment, our group created a satirical magazine based on the Elizabethan era, using ideas and themes from our individual essays. We combined writing, visuals, comedic elements, and historical references to present a creative and critical look at gender roles and societal expectations from that period.
Academic Growth:
Working on the magazine helped me develop stronger skills in applying research and literary analysis in a creative, collaborative format. I had to translate historical and thematic understanding into satire, which required deeper thinking about tone, audience, and rhetorical purpose. I also practiced organizing ideas within a group project, coordinating different parts to ensure the final product was cohesive and academically grounded.
Personal Growth:
On a personal level, this project helped me experience the real meaning of teamwork—learning to communicate, listen, compromise, and adjust when ideas or approaches didn’t immediately align. Different members brought different strengths, and I learned how valuable it is to balance perspectives, support teammates, and be flexible when challenges came up. This experience taught me that collaboration not only produces stronger work, but also builds skills that matter far beyond the classroom, such as cooperation, leadership, and respect for diverse viewpoints.
