ESSENTIAL QUESTION: HOW CAN WE USE OUR TALENTS?
Alex Rider is 14 years old when his uncle and guardian, Ian Rider, is mysteriously killed in a car accident. Alex soon discovers that his uncle had a secret life as a spy for the British government and that he was murdered. Alex takes over his uncle's mission and is trained as a spy.
MY WORK
Alex Rider is the main character in the book "Stormbreaker." He is a 14 year old teenage boy trying to find out why his uncle, Ian Rider died and goes through a lot of consequences.
In Unit 2, one of our projects was to make a canvas about a made up hero. There must be 12 stages that explains what your hero's life is like as a hero and his/her consequences
In this unit, I had to write a short story about a hero (based on the hero's journey). I had to describe how my hero's life was after the journey.
This novel was great because of the themes it had, they were great.
MY UNIT 2 REFLECTION
Unit 2 was a great unit for me. This unit had many interesting and fun projects to do, aswell as the funny
And the majority of the reason I enjoyed it was because of the novel I read, Alex Rider: Stormbreaker. Stormbreaker is an intriguing novel full of drama and violence. The plot was surprisingly good and creative, and it fit well with everything that happened in the novel. There were two projects in this unit. The first is my hero's journey, in which I created a character and had to make it a hero. There were 12 stages where I had to explain my hero's life and why he or she is a hero. The following is my short story, in which I was required to write an essay about what happened to my hero after the 12 stages, sort of like an after story. It wasn't as difficult as I anticipated. Themes were an important aspect of the lessons I learned. A theme is similar to a story's moral.
My favorites, however, were the short story and the hero's journey because I could be creative and write whatever I wanted as long as it was a hero's journey. I had a lot of fun making up my characters and his story. I hope to have more projects like these where I can express myself more creatively.
Honestly, I really liked this unit, and it was actually my favorite unit out of all the units this year. I found this unit very interesting and fun. It was also pretty easy to understand, and the work didn't take up too much time. Overall, this was a great unit.
