Reflections
In all honesty, this unit test was quite hard for not only me, but also my whole class, which made me feel quite happy. At first I felt as if I was alone - thinking that it was only hard for me, until I felt accompanied by my classmates. It's pretty sad considering that the whole class got a low score, but im thankful to hear that Mr. Harold had said that I improved and did better than other people in the class; hat definetly gave me a motivation boost for the next unit to try even harder. As I know myself, I definetly consider myself as one of the lower students in an accelerated class, but I definetly will try harder in my future tests and spend more time on practicing word problems and hard questions. Overall, yes, it was sad but I'm glad that I gave in all my efforts on this test despite being very pressured. Best hope to me!
Overall, I genuinly thought that this Unit was quite challenging, even though I'm aware that Math seems much harder for me compared to other subjects, I feel like this Unit was typically harder since it's about probability. Though I have already learnt most of these topics, I'm glad I got to relearn it and even go to even more depth onto those topics. Other than that, I feel like I got many opportunities to finally work in new, different groups with people that I haven't talked much with. Though it was a tough Unit, I still tried my best to finish all my classworks and all my homeworks assigned, even harder, the Unit Test truly traumitized me but I can say that now I look up to it as motivation to strive for better achievments and try even ahrder in the next Units or even the next years.
Honestly doing this Math Fair was a great experience to me which contributed to many factors of myself. For years I've been wanting to participate in the Math Fair since I kept on seeing 9th graders years ago hosting it every year. My Math Fair Project was about Ring Toss - based on the general topic of this Unit - Probability where I did it with my classmates as we hosted a Ring Toss game to other students younger than us. It was quite complicated and time - taking to host this project as we had to create our own game models, rules, posters and we had to make it more profitable to the game owner's advantage. What I liked about this project was that the model turned out really nice and we actually profited a lot as students struggled to win our game, other than that I enjoyed created the poster as it was relevant to my art skills. What I didn't enjoy so much was how much time it took to finish this project and that it was a bit conflicting to calculate every single possibility in every circumstance especially in our Report. In conclusion, I enjoyed this new experience of mine and it let me get a better grasp on probability.
TOPICS LEARNT THIS UNIT
Probability means possibility. It is a branch of mathematics that deals with the occurrence of a random event. The value is expressed from zero to one. Probability has been introduced in Math to predict how likely events are to happen. The meaning of probability is basically the extent to which something is likely to happen.
Independent
Two events are independent if the incidence of one event does not affect the probability of the other event.
Dependent
Events whose occurrence of one affects the probability of occurrence of the other.
Mutually Exclusive
If they cannot occur at the same time or simultaneously.
Mutually Inclusive
If they can occur at the same time or simultaneously.
A tool in the fields of general mathematics, probability, and statistics that helps calculate the number of possible outcomes.
An illustration that uses overlapping circles to show the logical relationship between two or more sets of items.
P(A/B) is known as conditional probability and it means the probability of event A that depends on another event B and is read as "probability of A given B".
Binomial is a polynomial with only terms. For example, x + 2 is a binomial, where x and 2 are two separate terms. Also, the coefficient of x is 1, the exponent of x is 1 and 2 is the constant here. Therefore, A binomial is a two-term algebraic expression that contains variable, coefficient, exponents and constant.
