LIVING THINGS
All organisms are made of cells.
All organisms contain simular chemicals and use energy.
All organisms respond to their surroundings.
All organisms grow, develop, and reproduce.
NEEDS OF LIVING THINGS
To carry out their daily functions.
To consume food for energy.
To have a place to live.
A LIVING THING'S LIFE
Cellular Organization
They are made up of smaller units called cells. Cells are the basic unit of structure and function in living things. Organisms consist of many cells; some are even unicellular. All cells work together to keep the organisms alive.
Growth Development
Growth means becoming larger, and development is the change that leads to maturity. As they develop and grow, they use energy. Organisms make new cells to become bigger or replace cells that have died.
Response Surroundings
All organisms react to their surroundings. Any change in signal or in the environment that can make an organism react in some way is called a stimulus. Resulting in action or some type of movement.
Energy Use
All organisms need energy to power their cells. Chemical reactions break down materials to get energy. Produced get energy from sunlight (photosynthesis). Consumers get their energy by eating organisms.
