ESSENTIAL QUESTION: WHAT MAKES AN IDEA POWERFUL?
Charlie Bucket lives on the outskirts of town with his poverty-stricken family: his parents and all four grandparents. Each day on his way to school, Charlie passes the best and biggest chocolate factory in the world, run by the secretive Willy Wonka. When Charlie's father loses his job, things go from bad to worse.Â
MY WORK
In this unit, our main project was to make a slide show about a candy that would change the world that was based on Vietnam. My team chose to make a chocolate that represented Vietnam's laggy wifi.
This is my essay that served as a Unit 1 test. My job was to write a problem-solution essay about a problem. I chose to write about pollution.
Reading strategies are strategies that will help you be able to visualize the scene better and have a greater understanding of what I am reading. There are 7.
Plot elements are the steps that will help you build your essay or story. It is also called a story mountain because it contains six main parts.
MY UNIT 1 REFLECTION
This year's ELA Unit 1 was a great unit for me; I learned a lot of things that were very interesting to me. This unit taught me many new things that were extremely beneficial.
Reading strategies taught me strategies that helped me understand more while also making it easier for me to understand. Plot elements are an efficient way for me to plan out my essays more easily and effectively. Aside from that, CER was a big part of helping me understand these better. Although the reasoning section was difficult, I was able to understand it well.
We had two major projects in this unit that required the use of slides and PowerPoint. They were tasked with developing a useful/life-changing invention as well as a novel type of candy (based on Willy Wonka). I honestly believe that these two projects did not go well because my teammates were unable to cooperate properly, resulting in a poor outcome.
And for my unit 1 test, I had to write a problem-solution essay. I chose to discuss pollution because I thought it would be simple. In the end, it went well, and I received a good grade. There were still some errors, which I hope to correct in the future.
Overall, I think this was a pretty good unit; it was decent.
