I am drawn to the aesthetics of commercials, nightlife, and the dynamics of the city, particularly the ongoing speculation and transformation in downtown Phoenix. My practice involves video editing, writing, and the creation of animatronics, which I build using AI, open-source software, 3D printing, and laser cutting. As an MFA student, I have been able to take full advantage of theresources at Grant Street Studios, which support the development of my current processes, as well as the Riso printer from the Humanities Institute.
My work is invested in how images construct and regulate our present, shaping contemporary belief systems. It draws on strategies of sampling and is nourished by both pop culture and cultural phenomena that reflect the zeitgeist of our time. The collage I present includes images I have been developing alongside recurring motifs that serve as inspiration.
