Personal IDea Collage
Biostatement:
I am present in Mesa, Arizona at present which is also a base from which I explore the connection between athletic leadership, mentorship, and creative expression. I am a native of Missouri and my time as a student-athlete at the University of Missouri shaped much of my approach to what I do in terms of storytelling and impact on and off the mat.
My art is a mix of photography, graphic design, and collage which I use to present sports, nature, and symbols as a way to explore ideas of growth. I am into materials which allow me to capture movement, emotion, and change whether it is through a camera, digital editing, or mixed media.
I am drawn to the strength of community, the determination behind personal growth, and the tales which come forth when people overcome challenges. I am passionate about mentoring which in turn sees me create work that puts leadership, reflection, and purpose at the core. Some of my greatest achievements in that which I am proud of are from leading youth wrestling teams, mentoring team members through high level competition, and from the fact that my team culture and service is what others note.
My college is a representation of the cross over between leadership, service, and personal growth. As a young athlete at the University of Missouri I participated in youth wrestling camps. The wrestling gym and knee brace present my tie into sports culture, at the same time the drone and camera symbolize my interest in telling stories and seeing life from a different angle. Across campus I see students come together for athletic events, service projects, and moments of connection. I am drawn to issues like mental health in sports, and I aim to promote inclusive leadership and to build up resilient communities. The mountain setting represents my enjoyment for hiking and nature.
