For this project, I wanted to answer the question, "How can I design a better bench that is comfortable for everyone while still addressing the issues with homeless people?" I wanted to design a form of public seating that can still accommodate those with disabilities while still making it so that homeless people wouldn't disrupt the public by laying over them.
What have I noticed?
One of the things that I notice when doing research, was that for those with disabilities, they would have form of seats that would help them get on the seat and get off, and seen with the image in the side, with an almost rocking motion to make it easier.
Using those seat as inspiration, I went out to make a bench or in this instance a seat that is similar to that of benches while also having similar footing to those of the lounge seat found as examples. This would help those that have trouble moving around be able to seat easier and get both on and out of seats with ease. With the seat being made for a single person, this would also disallow those to loiter and try and lay on the seat as they would tend to do with other public forms of seating.
