I am partnered with Keana Maynard.
Some of our current research questions are;
What does the trivial form of board games contribute to the idolization of movies?
What does public perception of movie making and its reality of film making reveal about our understanding of movie making?
What props do we consider to be movie props? Are these accurate?
I've also come up with:
How can techniques and materials used for makeup in film and tv be combined with the techniques utilized in creating a board game?
How much does a product being interactive affect the ways in which it's designed?
These are models I made using Tinkercad.
These are some characters I came up with for the game based around different movie genres.
These pieces were made by Keana as well as the board and money.
This is all of our pieces combined.
These pictures are from screenshots Keana took because I was unable to open the f3d file to view the assets.
Reflection:
Ultimately, due to time and resources available, I wasn't able to make physical objects for the game with makeup techniques like I wanted. However, when sculpting my pieces, I did focus on my other question concerning the interactivity of a game and how it affects its design. I went in with the philosophy of making pieces that a player would want to grab and turn, examining all the details, and seeing what it contributes to the game. I also made my game stands with the idea of them being a simple design to make and mass produce, as well as something comfortable for players to move around.
