1. What images, objects, activities do you find yourself attracted to?
I find myself attracted to music, video games, movies, and digital art. I’m heavily interested in adapting the digital world into the real world, for example like figures based on characters or props from games as well.
3. What studio processes are you currently involved with?
I’ve previously done sketching, drawing, painting, and storyboarding as the main processes I’ve worked with. The majority of my classwork is primarily adapting 3D into 2D spaces in some form.
4. What digital processes in Vizproto or the Makerspace or elsewhere on campus intrigue you?
3D printing and modeling since I’ve always found both very interesting with the time and dedication needed to bring something to life digitally or by creating something that is meant to exist in our world.
5. What issues (locally, nationally, internationally) capture your attention?
Adapting 2D to 3D properly as there’s been this trend I’ve been seeing of people scanning themselves or their artwork and having AI generate an image of the work as a figure. I think my attraction towards creating a 2D artwork to 3D model/art properly (and ethically) comes from this since I feel like it’s a disrespect towards those who’ve made their life creating these 3D works and as an artist who wants to expand his toolbelt.
6. If you were to work in a series, what would be some recurring "motifs" or "themes" that you would return to in your artwork?
Death, music, religion, fantasy, and different aspects of history and cultures I’m interested in to create world building.
Research Question:
How can I use digital tools to faithfully recreate a 2D artwork into a 3D figure in the real world while also giving another purpose to the figure?
