A Wish for Peace

This event, held on Sunday February 8, 2026 was about making wishes for Love, Healing and Peace. This idea was born from a conversation with two friends and was motivated from an event called Buddha Day which is often celebrated in Thailand.   During Buddha Day, people write their wishes for Peace on a long cloth which is then wrapped around a statue of Buddha or a Buddhist stupa.

In our event, we wrote messages of peace on a long fabric which we wrapped and used to cloth a snow structure which represented all of Humanity.  All of this sits in my front yard in front of a busy street where the hope is that some peaceful vibes will be carried throughout the town and larger world.  

Presentation

In my presentation, I shared how the themes of the event on Peace, Love and Healing existed in my mind for decades.  As early as 2004, when I was graduating undergrad, I had made the vow to keep growing my hair until I went on a journey to make a positive impact on the world.  For 6 years I trained and grew stronger and then during the reBirth Ceremony of 2009, I shared that I was ready for this sacred journey.  After reBirth2009, I took a leave of absence from teaching high school and went on a year long journey to work with an NGO to make positive impacts.  

Years later, during the reBirth ceremony of 2022, which was in honor of my grandmother who had recently passed, I resolved to follow her main advice to me which was to do seva (devotional work for society).  Now, in preparation for my rebirth 2026 which will be devoted to seva, I think about what I can do.  This event, in collaboration with friends, is one expression of this desire for peace, love and healing.

After my presentation, we did a meditation to focus our minds. 

Messages of Peace

 Then, we played a recording of my Mother chanting Vedic mantras while we all talked with one another about ideas related to Peace.  We wrote our messages of Peace on the fabric which we then wrapped around the snow structure.
