Introduction

Huddled in the embrace of winter, old friends met in 2019 after the magical David Frankel returned to the East Coast from the West Coast. To awaken their creativity from a long beautiful vaginal sleep, the Basement Men (the magical David Frankel, the glorious Jesse Simko, Vivekanand Pandey Vimal and the mysterious Mr. M) spontaneously decided to craft an impromptu video. Without any planning, equipped only with an old cellphone...and underneath the growing rage and frustration of HisLordandSaviorPinkShowers, they quickly recorded the footage for Basement Man 1 in just an hour or two. With only that limited paint set, David made a visceral masterpiece.

A year later, David returned to the East Coast and as COVID19 shut down the world, the Basement Men decided to collectively impregnate themselves and give birth to Basement Man 2!! Basement Man 2 was also shot with an old cellphone and because it was completely impromptu, it represented the collective subconscious of the Basement Men. The birthing process for Basement Man 2 took 3 years of sweat-and-blood-filled labor, heaving and screaming, it felt like it would never finish...and then it magnificently came!

We wanted Basement Man 2 to be made from only our parts. We recorded all of the sound effects. The movie score was written by the unconquerable and valiant Jesse Simko who learned how to compose music just for Basement Man 2 and what a glorious musical masterpiece it has become!

Establishment of the Basement Group Enterprises

One of the greatest treasure of the Basement Man experience has been exploring creativity with David, Jesse and Mike, where each of us contributed equally to the gestation and birth of the movie series.  To represent this, we created a new collective identity called the Basement Group Enterprises which houses the Basement-verse.  For the World Premiere of Basement Man 2, we designed and printed matching T-shirts.  As one of the four ambassadors of the Basement Group Enterprises, I wore our shirt to the NASA HRP IWS Conference in February 2024.
