Motivations

Research

My research is on determine whether vibrotactile feedback can help astronauts.  I find that it does, however it requires specialized training.  Therefore, there is a chance that astronauts and pilots will have vibrotactors on them in the future.  In my work, I put 4 vibrotactors on each arm.  I applied this idea to the nipples in my design where there are 2 rows of 4 nipples. 

Spacesuits

My design was also motivated by previous spacesuits. Below are some of the first spacesuits and you can see 6 nipple like things on the stomach.

Identity

Identity is important and it may be important for space exploration too.  Because by having identity woven into the spacesuits it may help personalize their experience and help combat isolation and depression.  One of my spirit animals is the squirrel. See the below text to learn more.  She has 8 nipples and it is another reason why I have 8 nipples in my design. 

Here is one of my most special and precious friends! Back when COVID hit, I spent nearly all of my time working from the backyard.  At that time, there was one squirrel who would always attack the bird feeder.  This caused me to enter into an arms race...putting up more and more obstacles, but this squirrel was so smart that she overcame all of them!  I was super impressed and I would let her eat some seeds everytime she would outsmart me. One day, as I sat outside, she shimmied up the gutter and jumped and grabbed onto the screen on the window and then start eating the seeds.  I walked up to the feeder and we just looked at each other...I was so close.  After that we became friends! For the last few years, I call her and she comes right up to me and I give her peanuts! This summer I saw her mating and then becoming a mother! I took this picture because I wanted a picture of her nipples which I will use to design fashion based on my research (I'll describe this later).  

Mythology

The milky way galaxy is named after a mythologial story of a child suckling from nipples to drink milk.  Some of that breast milk squirts all across space and creates the milky way galaxy.  This is why I also used the themes of milk.
