Summer’s End Part 2: Orientation Games & Workshop Skits

The end of youth camp can be an emotional time, but is not the end of camp magic! We offer more adult programs than ever before and cover a range of different groups and possibilities for camp experiences and memories to be created. As summer fades into fall, we’re taking a look at some of the ‘lasts’ of the youth portion of the summer in a 6 part series!

A classic Sunday night includes orientation games as a time to get to know each other and break the ice. After the intros, it’s time to get down to business as the counselors take the stage to act out and announce the different workshops that will be happening during a particular week. Workshops are programs that meet every morning throughout the week and cover a wide variety of interests and niches.

Session 5 Recap!!!!!

What a week at Camp Unirondack! Campers learned wilderness first aid, how to figure draw, and what types of bugs live around camp. Volleyball, ultimate frisbee, hiking a firetower, and SO much art also took place this week. 


Additionally, session 5 of camp was Wish Week! A tradition at camp where everyone gets to make and grant a wish and all are presented on Thursday. This year was beautiful and magical as always.

Session 6 Recap!!!!!!

This week at Unirondack hosted campers from ages 15 to 18 years old! Campers worked on getting out of their comfort zones musically, did physical and mental challenges, went on role playing adventures, learned self care,  and did all sorts of art. For Wednesday excursions, campers went on big hikes, canoe trips for ice cream, and spent the day at Blue Lagoon.

Session 7 Recap!!!!!!!

Our last week of youth campers for this summer was absolutely incredible. Campers participated in programming that challenged their endurance and team work with different ‘type 2 fun’ activities, they practiced self care, played water games of all sorts, learned to monkey around, played role playing games, did so much art, and did silly sports. 

This week also included a fun day where afternoon programming options called oneshots were switched to be at night, allowing campers to do different activities that they might not get to do in the daytime.

The last youth session also means that the sacred tradition of Rumpus happened, a coming of age ceremony that involves running around a large bonfire.

Summer’s End Part 3: Talent Show

As summer fades into fall, we’re taking a look at some of the ‘lasts’ of the youth portion of the summer in a 6 part series!

Friday night is when the talent show takes place. This is a time for campers to sing a song, act out a skit, tell a joke, do a dance, and honestly anything their heart desires. It takes place in the large pavilion called Stevens which houses a stage and a costume closet.

This is an appreciation to the team that dug the Rumpus pit,

 and to the Wayne Crew for keeping everybody safe and building such an amazing Rumpus. So much goes into digging the Rumpus pit in such a short amount of time. The campers and staff that put hard work into this specific pit were incredible. They dug the pit efficiently and beautifully!
