Having only limited space on our campus we developed a plan to BUILD UP not OUT. To make use of the footprint of the buildings in place and better utilize everything we could.
One project dreamed up to create an extra bedroom was to relocate the bathroom in upper Overlook. The upstairs room called Delmar was a bathroom. In the old days this floor was the chauffers quarters.
We noticed that the building was buit in such a way that a floor could be extened out the back wall and thus the plan was hatched to bump out the wall and roof and make a new bathroom on the back side. This allowed Delmar to be used for quarters. The name Delmar was given to the old bathroom by the staff in the 1980s as a joke against the town of Delmar which was just a running gag making fun of this suburb of Albany.
