After the Pavilion (Steven's Performing Arts Center) proved it was a great location for stage activities the old stage in Gilman was not needed. More space was needed in the dining hall so Devin Hollands asked the builder Ed Lyndecker (he built Leining, Chadwick additioin and Steven's) if he could just lower the stage and make the floor flat. The other vision was to bring the outside forest INTO the dining space with a massive wall of windows. Ed and his team did a great job in making these dreams come true.
to Camp, me
I love ed. he sings while he works.
things are moving right along with gilman. it looks SO AWESOME. when
fergie and i walked in this morning and they had opened up the space
for the windows, we almost fell over. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
they have questions about what you want for the wall covering.. we
have the pine boards that came off the old walls, but they might not
be enough to cover all that is open? they also brought some tongue and
groove pine like what is on the walls of stevens. the wall that is on
the camp road end of gilman, and the wall that is shared with the
kitchen have the pine that is the same as what was th front facing of
the stage. the old green room and the lake side wall and where the
stage was - thats all open studs. thoughts?
also, for the pantry.. do we want that tin lined? just drywall? something else?
im so excited. the space is tremendous, and is already beautiful, even
at this rough stage. how increddible it will be on a sunny day. (it is
absolutely torrential here today) :)
sorry the pics are just iphone quality.--
