by Marc Guillaume and his crew based on a barn he saw in California. Hugh Anderson helped with Architecture structural touches.
Marc Guilluame loaded and moved into holes infront of the new shop huge cement blocks. Anchors were put in afterwards to stabilize the large sonotube supports.
The blocks are now wrapped in cable and the cable connects to the sonotube posts under the shop
The old crew shop was in the center garage in Overlook, a nice central location for working. The health department wanted it moved out of the residential building for many years. Finally when the push was on to build the new Leining building a letter materialized and was presented by Tom Cutter that NYS wanted the shop OUT now. So we had to build a new shop before Leining could begin. Marc G. brought back a vision of a building from California and plans were drawn up and Marc drew together his crew and they built the new shop during the summer months. Architect Hugh Anderson was consulted and drew plans to eliminate all posts holding the second floor. He did this by turning the walls upstairs into trusses that actually hold up the second floor. This creates a complete free span on the lower level! Just do not cut windows or holes in the upper floor walls as they are structural.
Original plan was for a central site across the back road from Overlook, but a remote site was voted on by the building and grounds committee.
Marc's favorite aspect of the project was the Loon figurehead on the peak rafter beam. At sundown the red eye of the loon would lite up!
