I have a copy,made from a slide, of a photo taken when I was on the crew at Unirondack way back in the late fifties.

The picture is of three guys apparently pushing a bathtub into Beaver Lake.

The person on the left, in the life jacket, is Fran Rodeo, the Manager at the time.

The person with his back to the viewer is, I believe, yours truly.

The other person I believe was a crew member - but cannot remember his name.

The tub was taken out of a small bathroom off the office in the old lodge - now replaced after a fire.

Fran decided to alter the layout of the office and did not know what to do with the cast iron tub.

Someone suggested we sink it in the lake!! Hmmm.

So we did. We plugged the drain and we got in and paddled slowly to the swimming area, where we fastened a chain through the hole where the spout used to be and then pulled the plug. It was used as the anchor for the raft and I believe it is still performing that function.

When Marc was on the crew he remembered me telling the tub story and he dove down for a look - and there was the tub.

Last time I was at Unirondack was this past spring when Marc and I were there for a work weekend. Was interesting to be back.
