Guests From Netherlands, Switzerland 

Miss Trafton introduced your editor to two guests of the Unirondack Camp. They were Miss Cor Zolf, Schevenigan, Netherlands and Miss Vreny Furrer, of Solothurn, Switzerland. The girls have been touring the Eastern Seaboard. including Montreal, Canada. New York City, where they visited the United Nations Building, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Rochester, Syracuse, . Buffalo, Niagara . Falls, Utica and Canton. They were on their way to Derby Line, Vt., Barre, Springfield and Brattleboro, Vt. The girls, who are members of the International Religious Fellowship, saved their money during the past year for their trip to America. Once in the States, entertainment was arranged by the Universalist and Unitarian families in the cities and towns visited. They were travelling with Miss Alice M. Harrison of Boston, Mass., Associate Director of the Liberal Religious Youth. Miss Eva Shepherd, of Peabody, Mass., was driving the car. Miss Zolf, who spoke English with hardly a trace of accent, is secretary of the Dutch Association of Industries, which is similar to our national organization of manufacturers. During-school, she took as required subjects, six years of English, French, German and Dutch. We asked Miss Zolf what differences in our way of life impressed her the most, “Family life”, she replied: "in The Netherlands the wife stays home. She does not work out I work now, but when I marry, home I stay,” she said emphatically. (Miss Zolf expressed a wish to return to Niagara Fails which impressed her very much,) 

Miss Furrer, who also speaks English very well, was of a different opinion. “In Switzerland,” she explained, “It is like here. The girls who marry work until the first   baby comes.” 

The girls return to Europe on August 21st. The Unirondack Camp was formerly in Vermont, and has been operating at Beaver 'Lake for the past three years. During the summer there have been many foreign guests, including at pre
