Vuldya Dark is a highly potent magic dark red wine made from grapes grown near fieldicly strong and fertile soil of the west bank of the Tiir River. It takes 100 years for it to ripe. Vuldya Dark is magicly sealed in cellars near a leyline that allows special fieldic yeast to give it special high potency in both alcohol and magic. The color is a deep red that almost as black.
It has a earthy flavor with a hint of sweetness. The Tassendrel aristocracy loved it and often used in religious ceremony to celebrate the harvest and/or new spring. Prior to the War of The Dawn the Emperor regularly drink a glass during dinner and would bring up the best bottle to fellow Elderkin rulers during diplomatic banquets.
When consumed moderately it gives a moderate health boost for the heart and allows for faster spell casting for mages, but it is also a double edge sword. If one drinks Vuldya Dark over the recommended limits it will make it difficult to complete spells and can lead to some failures by the caster. Other side effect are headache and nausea.
The Tassendrel Empire strictly regulates the wine making of Vuldya Dark by only allowing it in Vuldya and neighboring regions in the Tirr Region. It takes a minimum of 100 years with the right spells and grape types to be considered Vuldya Dark. If it takes any shorter time it can only called red wine or other another name per imperial decree.
It's known that the origin of this wine can be traced back from the ancient Xanildrel Culture. There wood elves used foraged berries and folk spells to make a magic dark wine for rituals and offerings for major Aurafae. The knowledge to make this wine slowly spread up the Tiir River to Vuldya Region trough trade, and migration brought the wine with it. Local wine makers used both Tassendreli methods and traditional Xanidrel spells to make modern Vuldya Dark as we know it.
Knowlage on how to make Vuldya Dark's predecessor dark wine was lost to history after Xanildrel got destroyed during the First Gate War. Up north humans and other Lesserkin around the Sunter Plains tried to replicate the lost dark wine and Vuldya Wine. This wine they made had a similar earthly note and somewhat similar ethanol percentage, but it completely lacked the magic potency and none of the substance of Vuldya Wine is known for. Most Elderkin referrer it as "Mudwine" dismissively for it subpar qualities compared to the near leyline made wines.
After the massacre at Tiirgard Crossing and subsequent Voskgardian counteroffensive in the beginning of the War of the Dawn, Vuldya was placed under military occupation. The production of Vuldya Dark came to a stop because of the ongoing fighting near the front. Most of the preexisting wine barrels got lost or were looted by Voskgardia to pay up its massive war debts. Some were taken as prices or trophies for Voskgardian officers.
Tassendrel was only able to recover a fraction of the amount that was stolen after the War. Today a bottle of Vuldya Dark Wine can bring up a hefty price on the black market. It is often rumored that a large amount of this stolen wine ended up in Mitannia by the fleeing Voskgardian fleet that escaped there, but is of course denied by the Mitannian Foreign Ministry.
