"May the chime of brass and the echoing horns herald the might of Ryeka
—our gate will never break"
- Ryekan slogan
Ryeka is the one of the southern guildholds in the Red Mountains, within its territories are multiple mountains rich in copper, silver and zinc as well as the Keeka-RIver that gives the dwarfs the rare source of fish as well as serving watering the number of farms along the rivers edges. The hold overlooks the Rivers mouth where the city's main gate can be seen from the water. A winding road leads up from the valley floor up to the gate through the legs of a massive statue of an Ox made out of Brass: The brass bull of Ryeka.
Ryeka stands out as one of the more culturally open-minded Guildholds. With a keen eye for profit, they prioritize economic success over some of the more traditional aspects of Dwarven culture. This approach has both hindered and helped them in the politics of the Red Mountains. Despite never having one of their own ascend to the position of Highking, Ryeka is one of the wealthiest guilds in the mountain range, showcasing the delicate balance between tradition and innovation in the pursuit of cold hard coin.
The location of Ryekas Guildhold
Ryeka's history, stared in the early-2nd age, and is a tale of economic prowess, political maneuvering, and manipulation. It all began when the Brass Forgers Guild assimilated the Gate Makers Guild, forming the powerful conglomerate known as Ryeka. Slowly but steadily, Ryeka expanded its influence, carving out a formidable Guildhold on the southern side of the Red Mountains.
This ascendancy granted them a coveted seat in the Red Mountains Congress, the ruling body overseeing the entire mountain chain. Ryeka's strategy involved a combination of trade, military might, and strategic takeovers of other guilds, resulting in the acquisition of numerous subsidiaries and fief-guilds. Their keen understanding of dwarven economics allowed them to amass significant power over time.
However, Ryeka's success came at a price. Their tendency to engage in foreign trade and their manipulation of the Harka tribes for resources led to strained relations with more traditional dwarven Guildholds. Despite their undeniable wealth, the leaders of Ryeka found themselves excluded from the prestigious position of being Highking, highlighting the tension between traditional dwarven values and Ryeka's more pragmatic and profit-driven approach.
This divergence in values and the resulting isolation within dwarven political circles shaped Ryeka's unique position in the Red Mountains, setting them apart as a guild with immense wealth but limited influence in the broader dwarven hierarchy.
THE ORCISH WARS
The completion of Ryeka's Guildhold near the source of the Keeka River marked a turning point in their relationship with the nearby Harka tribes. Initially marred by clashes and skirmishes, the superior dwarven armor proved dominant over the primitive weapons of the Harka, leading to a begruding acceptance of the dwarven pressence. This newfound peace paved the way for trade, and over time, the presence of the Elderkin influenced the Harka society greatly.
As the Orcs of the Red Steppes moved west, conquering lands and kingdoms, the dwarfs of the Red Mountain responded to the looming threat. The War of Harka unfolded as a brutal conflict, with dwarves, beastkin, and orcs facing heavy losses on all sides. However, as reinforcements arrived and the orcish momentum was crushed at Turangar, the tide turned in favor of the united forces.
The war forged a new bond between the dwarfs and the Harka, with the beastkin seeing their dwarven allies in a new light. To commemorate the hard-fought victory and celebrate their newfound alliance, the industrious dwarfs of Ryeka turned to their expertise: construction. The Great Brass Bull, a monumental symbol of dwarven craftsmanship, was erected outside Ryeka's gates, standing as a testament to the resilience of the united forces and the enduring friendship between the dwarfs and the Harka.
THE WAR OF THE DAWN
As the War of the Dawn unfolded, the Guildhold of Ryeka, in adherence to the orders of their liege, the Highking, joined forces with the rest of the Red Mountain Dominion. The dwarven warriors of Ryeka, led by their Highking, marched west, aligning themselves with rivals from the Union of Great Holds. Together, they entered the Empire of Elruth to confront the upstarts of Voskgardia. The combined might of three dwarven highkings and five elven emperors proved overwhelming, finaly wiping Voskgardia off the map.
However, victory came at a cost. Many Ryekans, including the Highking of the Red Mountains, sacrificed their lives in the conflict, and a significant number of the fallen never returned home. The veterans of the war shared stories of untold horrors and the surprising resemblance of human technology to their own. Yet, the pragmatic traditions of Ryeka proved to have merit, and the guildhold redoubled its efforts to improve its craft.
With no Highking elected following the War of the Dawn, Ryeka now stands alongside four other Great Guildholds as one of the main contenders for the throne. The opportunity, never seen for millennia, rekindles a new drive in the Ryekans as the prospect of claiming the highest dwarven authority beckon.
May the chime of brass and the echoing horns herald the might of Ryeka—nothing will stand in the way of profit!
Ryeka's geography adheres to the traditional placement of most dwarven Guildholds, nestled deep within the heart of the Red Mountains on its southern side. The main gate of Ryeka stands proudly above the Keeka River, accessible only through a narrow road that winds its way up the mountainside. To reach the top, one must pass through the legs of the gate's guardian—the Brass Bull, a colossal statue that watches over the entrance.
INTERIOR
Within the confines of Ryeka, the interior is a complex network of tunnels and caves, giving shelter to various dwarven structures such as underground buildings, fortifications, forges, workshops, and mines. The heart of the Guildhold is marked by a central chamber, featuring a vast plaza spacious enough to assemble all members of the Guild. It is here that major announcements from the High Lords of Rubricon are delivered.
Ryeka operates under a Guild-based Plutocratic Corporatocracy, a system intricately woven with dwarven economic principles and their pragmatic traditions. The governance of Ryeka is structured around the Guildhold Council, where each fief-guild or shareholder has a designated spokesperson. These spokespersons convene to discuss matters related to the Guildhold's administration, policy-making, and economic decisions these matters are brought up higher up in the hieracy in the Board of High Lords
The Current Guilds of the Board:
the guild of Order
the guild of Acquisition
the guild of Progress
the guild of Agriculture
the Rune Engineers Guild
the Brassmakers Guild
the Contract Scribes Guild
the Gatecrafters Guild
THE HIGH LORDS
At the apex of the Guildhold's power structure is the Board of High Lords. These individuals, distinguished by their wealth and influence, form the oligarchy that holds significant sway over Ryeka's affairs. The High Lords also hold their own council, where matters brought forth by the Guild Council are thoroughly examined and debated.
One of the significant responsibilities of the High Lords is to elect a leader known as the Thane or King. This individual is meant to represent the entire Guildhold of Ryeka and make critical decisions on its behalf. However, the process of electing a Thane often becomes a complex affair. Each member of the High Lords possesses the right to vote for themselves, leading to a potential deadlock. This has resulted in a situation where Ryeka currently lacks a reigning king.
THE THANE
The Thane is expected to be the leader of the Guildhold and has the responsibility to select a spokesperson to represent Ryeka at the larger political stage, the Red Mountains Congress. However, the ongoing deadlock in the election process further complicates matters, leaving Ryeka currently without a singular figurehead.
Ryeka's economic prowess is a result of its rich natural resources and the business savvy of its dwarven population. The guildhold's strategic location within the Red Mountains, coupled with its mining expertise, has made it a dominant force in the region. The network of trading tunnels facilitates commerce with other dwarven holds, creating a thriving marketplace for metalwork and gems. Ryeka's economic influence extends beyond the mountains, engaging in foreign trade and acquiring luxury materials like Aurite and other luxury products.
EXPORT
Ryeka's primary exports revolve around its abundant metal resources. The guildhold is a major supplier of Brass, Bronze, copper, zinc, and silver, contributing to the backbone of the dwarven metallurgical industry. Expert smiths and jewelers produce highly sought-after goods, dominating the Red Market. The trading tunnels connect Ryeka to other holds, ensuring a continuous flow of metalwork and gems to neighboring regions. Ryeka's economic reach extends to foreign powers, exporting many types of high quality dwarven goods
IMPORT
Strategic control over the Harka tribe by Ryeka provides a unique advantage, allowing a substantial portion of resources to be allocated beyond basic necessities. This enables Ryeka to engage in diverse imports, ranging from other metals to luxurious materials. The guildhold's economic portfolio goes beyond the conventional focus on foodstuffs, making it stand out among its traditional counterparts. Ryeka's influence extends through fief-guilds and subsidiaries in other dwarven holds, contributing to a varied range of imports and solidifying its status as a key player in the economic landscape.

Ryeka's military strength is decentralized, with each guild responsible for its own security. The guildhold lacks a standing army but relies on the might of each individual aswell as the protection of the Red Mountains as a whole. Each guild of Ryeka contribue to the overall defense and expansion of the Guildhold. The Guild of Order serves as a police force, maintaining internal stability within Ryeka, while the Guild of Agriculture and the Guild of Acquisition boast the largest armed forces, able to project Ryekas might outwards.

Their elite dwarven warriors form the core of this force, augmented by a fleet of airships that enhances their strategic capabilities. In addition to the dwarven core, the guild employs a significant number of mercenaries, funded by Ryeka, to carry out military operations in the Red Steppe Mandate. The Guild of Acquisition plays a pivotal role in safeguarding Ryeka's interests and expanding its influence beyond its borders.
