King Lappin’s War was a conflict fought in the Vosk Basin in the year 2784 of the Second Age. Widely seen as a proxy war the conflict pitted the Tassendreli aligned Republic of Voskgardia against the Elruthian vassal nations of Husnil and Torfall. The conflict began in the aftermath of the Voskgard Revolution where a Tassendreli backed coup managed to oust Voskgardia’s Elruth aligned king, Lappin III.
A republic was declared and the new Voskgardian chancellor pledged his vassalage to Tassendrel. However King Lappin III had managed to escape the country. Former king Lappin was able to convince the Grand Duchy of Husnil, the Principality of Torfall, and secretly the Elruth emperor, that a joint invasion of Voskgardia can put him back into power.
It was thought that by doing this they could stem the tide of future revolt in the region and restore Elruth dominance of the River Vosk. On the 7th of Deepsnow, 2784 S.A, Husnil and Torfall began their attack. Despite initial gains that included the city of Voskgard itself, the invasion failed. Two other vassal nations, the Duchy of Rozdoijn and the United Kingdom of Trimostna-Vyzlevini, joined Voskgardia’s side in the war.
Voskgardia also made heavy use of rifled muskets to turn the tide against the larger, but less technologically advanced forces of Husnil and Torfall. After both Husnil and Torfall had both suffered major defeats, Voskgardia’s coalition crossed the border into the two Elruth vassals. In order to sue for peace they were forced to give up territory to Voskgardia post war.
Voskgardia would gain control over the lower reaches of the River Viek while Torfall was forced to relinquish the city of Vostodhnoja and surrounding countryside. Afterwards the other pro Tassendrel vassal state joined Voskgardia willingly and peacefully, transforming the country into the strongest of mankind's nations in the Vosk Basin.
