NATIONAL FLAG
"Take care when dealing with the Jjopili. Trust their coin and their trade, and don't ever ask where they're headed next."
- Trademaster Steven Rolf
The Grand Plutocracy of Jjopil is a collection of mercantile cities that runs along the southern coast of West- Ciradon. They are a relatively new nation of Elderkin, having gained much of their global influence after the Orcish wars that ravaged Turangar.
Jjopil is a nation built by merchants, their crews and their companies, famed across West-Ciradon for their hunger for wealth, their fascination with birds and their love of a good deal. A Jjopili merchant will trade with most everyone, so long as they deem it a worthy enterprise.
Their gold and their banks are also some of the most secure across West-Ciradon, as the Jjopili protect and prize their clients privacy and coinage above all else
EARLY HISTORY
The nation currently known as Jjopil has had a very turbulent history. Originally, it was settled by the Beastkin- a subspecies of Kottur that hunted throughout the deserted and tropical region.
These Kottur traded with the nearby Marecea people and generally lived peaceful lives beneath the weight of the The Elruth Empire.
These Kottur, collectively called the Loosin, had no unified nation or governmental structure and roamed the lands as tribal hunters and gatherers. Though some of their number were snatched by Elruth and later enslaved, most were unaware of the wider Tyrrell.

THE FOURTH GATE
This outlook changed rapidly in the early years of the Second Age when the Fourth Gate was opened. Though much of the fighting was centered within Umridel, the twisted forces of the Dark Lord struck deep into the Loosin's lands, killing or corrupting much of the populace. Lacking any meaningful way to fight back, many of the Kottur fled their lands, escaping north and east to eventually join the nation that would become Elioda.
Most of the Loosin that remained would ultimately perish in the wars of the Fourth Gate, with a small handful of tribes surviving to see the Forgotten armies resealed thanks to the sacrifice of Umindron Viridus and the efforts of the Verdant Order.
These tribes would ultimately retreat to the coast of their lands, staying as far away as they could from the lands corrupted by the strange touch of the dark abominations.

ARRIVAL OF THE JJULP
In the two centuries after the Fourth Gate was sealed, the Loosin managed to build a steady trade network throughout the Ruby Sea. It was primitive by Elderkin standards, but they had established relations with Umridel and the slowly growing human nation of Turangar. This growing network would eventually catch the attention of the Jjulp, a nation of mixed Elderkin traders originally from Elysia.
In the year 946, several crews of Jjulp arrived in the Loosin's coast with the intent to establish a colony there. The Loosin, wary of the Elderkin's intentions, allowed them to settle on a small island off the main landmass. The Jjulp agreed and began to construct the first colony, seemingly happy to have even a meager foothold in West-Ciradon.
Over the next few years, the various crews of the Jjulp slowly spread their influence into the Loosin community. They were some of the first Elderkin the Loosin had met that treated them as equals, and the oppourtunites of new technology and knowedge of the modern world was too good a prize to ignore.
Eventually, a crew led by the Cyclopes captain Jennis Nettana purchased land from a Loosin clan they were allied with. He used this land to establish the town of Jennisti, as well as the first feather farm within the country.
WARS OF THE CITY STATES
Many Jjulp crews followed in Nettana's footsteps, using money and alliances with the Loosin to establish their own footholds across the Loosin coast. Some of these deals resulted in brand new trading towns, whilst others allowed the Jjulp to operate out of pre-existing Loosin settlements. Though initially reluctant, the Loosin could not deny the financial and cultural success the Jjulp had brought to their nation.
However, as these towns began to grow in power, they also began to conflict with each other. Resource rich land was harder to come by, and soon old tribal and familial disputes were reignited. These conflicts would later be known as the Barter Wars.
First Conflict
The first major conflict occurred in the year 1049; between Jennisti and Ttylleer, the most powerful city states of the coast. Both cities were built upon land occupied by rival Loosin clans, the Oostalu and the Wuraba, who both laid claim to a valley between the two cities. The valley was one of the few places in Jjopil where the Leylines ran strong, creating a dense jungle cluster rich with resources.
The two tribes had a long standing agreement about using the fruits and material of the jungle. However, spurred on by Ttylleer incentives, the Wuraba began exporting more material than was considered fair. Oostalu diplomats intervened, threatening war if the agreement was discarded. The Wuraba members were unmoved, however, and called their threat empty.
Soon, the large clans mobilised and fighting begain. Both tribes, backed with Elderkin weapons, armour, and spellcasters, were evenly matched. Land was traded back and forth with the two cities hiring Loosin mercenary groups to reinforce the warring armies.
Eventually though, in 1055, the Oostalu and Jennisti forces were able to ambush a large section of the Wuraba supply line, hamstringing Ttylleer and forcing them to concede ownership of the valley and the land they had lost in the fighting. The Loosin, however, had suffered far more loses than their Jjulp suppliers; a running theme within the Barter Wars.
THE ORCISH WARS
Jjopil is a mostly arid nation, with much of it's population located along the more futile lands of the coastline. Here, the major City states and Crewtowns of the country reside, trading merchandise, maintaining their ships, and managing their various farming industries.
Jjopil's governmental structure is plutocratic in nature, run by the many trade captains, merchants, land owners and wealth distributors found throughout the City states. They maintain a political council in the city of Jennisti, known as the Feathered Court, where national laws and levies are decided. Many of the councillors, however, vote through representatives as they are often abroad.
Economy, trade and international business is the backbone of Jjopil, with most of the population tied to the Merchant guilds in some way. It is often said that the Jjopili breathe coin, valuing profit and wealth security above all else. They have built a reputation of trading with anyone, including many of the Lesserkin-led nations. This willingness has proven beneficial since the dawn of the Third Age, as the Jjopili have embraced the industrial era far more willingly then their more traditional sister nations.
EXPORTS
Jjopil has few notable exports of its own, mostly local produce, canned goods and some fabricated materials, among others. Much of its exported wealth is actually drawn from the many Jjopili Banks and Coin vaults, and the interest on loans paid out to foreign powers. Jjopil coin is some of the most stable across Tyrrell, built off of their strong trading society.
