Often called the Tiir River in Voskgardia or the Tir River by Tassendrel, or simply the Tiir. The north flowing river marks a significant border between The Republic of Voskgardia and The Empire of Tassendrel and have served as a contested border between Tassendrel and many of its Elderkin Rivals such as The Elruth Empire and The Magocracy of Midboria when they held dominion over the various human fiefdoms and vassal states that occupied The Sunter Plains before the rise of Voskgardia in the second millenium of the 2nd age.
In dwarven corespeak Tir means "Ember" or "Burning" and the river is named such due to the fires of conflict that have marked the river trough the ages. The rivers banks host numerous swamps and bogs where the dead of many battles lay.
The river has its source in the Zuriss Mountains where tributaries and various waterfalls collect in the mountains northen foot hills and flows nortwards and ends at the coast of the North Sea.
The river was once important to the Elderkin for trade, but sometime in the mid 2nd age a river-bend changed the course of the Tiir westwards causing that part of the river to be too shallow for active travel, something rival Elderkin powers actively tried to maintain to halt their rivals' use of the river. Most of the rivers southern banks are home to seasonal flood Marshes stemming from the rapids and waterfalls coming down from the Zuriss mountain and its surrounding hills, and the area is often wet all year round.
