"When existence was molded to their desire, their greed craved more. They looked to the starlit sky, and the Gates became their ladders. By the culling of their creations, the Gates were opened, and the very cosmos lay in their grasp."
- From the Memories of The Accain , Verse 7. The Verdant Creed
The Gates into which The Forgotten disappeared are mysterious and enigmatic portals that are not fully understood by the mortal races. These Gates are ancient, magical constructs that seem to transcend the natural boundaries of the known world.
The specifics of the Gates, their origins, and their purpose are often shrouded in myth, legend, and uncertainty yet nine gates are known to exist across Tyrrell and each is difrent in nature, be it its aperance or location.
Each Gate is also built above areas where the Fieldic Leylines intersect near the surface, rather than more common deep underground intersections.
This has lead some to believe that the Gates are, in fact, the source of the Leylines and the Field as a whole, though this has never been confirmed.

The first gate opened in Midboria
The Second Gate opened in Parthus,
The Third gate opened in the lands that would become "The Three Dynasties", In its opening its dark princess killed of much of the nobility and the royal family of the nearby nations, leaving only Three Dynasties of Dragon riders remaining.
The Fourth Gate, discovered at the end of the 1st Age, prompted the Elruth Empire to build Thornewall to guard against the Forgotten. Infighting led to the fortress's collapse, and a dark lord, allegedly a corrupted dwarven general, threatened Ciradon.
The hero Umindron Viridus emerged as a hero, sacrificing themselves to defeat the dark forces. The Verdant Order sealed the Fourth Gate, and Umridel, an independent theocratic state influenced by the Verdant Creed, was established to protect it.
The governance of Umridel centers on unity, sacrifice, and protection, making it a important protector of the whole of West-Ciradon.
