Tyrrell is home to a large number of different religions, beliefs, cults, and other such spiritual organizations.
Aurathesism is a major global religion that centers around worship of the the Field and magic in general. Auratheists believe that the field is a divine force that not only serves as the global source of magic, but also as the creator of life, Tyrrell, and everything within it. Believers in Aurathesism view it as the their responsibility to maintain harmony with nature and uphold the delicate balance of the leylines. This religion emphasizes unity with the natural world and living in accordance with the Field's divine purpose for mortal beings. Practitioners worship the Field as if it were a god and typically gather in ziggurat style temples.
Aurathesism is believed to have originated in the ancient civilization of Hvel'Luthnor, though Umridel is considered by many to be the spiritual center of the religion in the modern day. Aurathesism is most commonly practiced in the western elven nations of West Ciradon such as Tassendrel, Frieredrel, or Lytheria. It's also been spread across the globe, especially through the colonies of the Three Dynasties and the Saressen Empire. Due to its spiritual focus on magic, Aurathesism has always been less popular amongst the Lesserkin, though its not impossible for them to become Auratheists.
The Catenic Pantheon (also known as Catenicism) is a polytheistic global religion that believes the physical universe was created by the "Architectural Gods". These gods are said to live within a spiritual world known as "the Core" deep beneath the surface of Tyrrell. The Catenic Pantheon holds that the fieldic aberrations known as the Aurafae are either the avatars, or the holy messengers of these gods depending on denomination.
The Catenicism is notably open about adding new gods to the Pantheon, leading to a wide array of different beliefs and cultural practices across Tyrrell. This religion started in ancient Midborea and slowly spread throughout the central mountainous regions of Ciradon and Parthus. The Catenic Pantheon is also popular in regions with strong Aurafae presence. Major centers of Catenicism include, but are not limited to, the regions around the Red Mountains, the former Elruth Empire, Goryn, and Wadelfa.
The Dhazigast Sanctum is a monotheist religion primarily practiced by the human nations in the Greater Vosk Basin and around the arctic region. This religion worships Dhazigast, the god of sun and fire. Dhazigast is said to take the form of a fiery bird, or pheonix in nearly every Voskite language. He is the god of all good things in the world and is in constant war with the snake demon Zmij'amni, the king of all evil and lord of the Forgotten. Their never-ending struggle takes place across many worlds of which Tyrell is just one.
First preached by the legendary prophet Niruvatry "the blessed one" in what is now the Vosk-Morevan state of Viekash, the Dhazigast Sanctum is a popular religion in Voskgardia, Šov, the Elruth Occupation Zone, and many of the Lesserkin nations throughout northern West Ciradon. However this religion is often in competition with the closely related Temple of Zoryaos, sharing a plurality of the population in many Voskite societies. Practitioners of Dhazigastism worship in oval shaped sanctums. Their rituals typically involve fire and bird feathers that represent their god.
Another major religion from the Greater Vosk Basin is the Temple of Zoryaos. Like Dhazigastism, of which it is closely related, the Temple of Zoryaos is a monotheistic faith. It's centered around worshiping a deity named Zoryaos, the "God of Justice". He symbolizes the sun, war, protection, truth, and hope. Zoryaos casts divine judgment upon the world with his solar ax and has a history of fighting the Forgotten. The followers of Zoryaos are supposedly rewarded for their service in life with a joyous afterlife in the land of the sun.
The tenets of this faith emphasize the equality of all humans before Zoryaos and is generally critical of class differences. This makes it more popular among common folk and the religion grew increasingly popular in the run-up to the War of the Dawn. It is especially useful to politicians who want to gain support from the common folk. While some of the rites in the Temple of Zoryaos are public, many are secret and only accessible to followers upon the completion of various spiritual milestones. Zoryaosists worship in circular temples that include underground chambers for the secret rites of the faith.
The Sagiraist religion is a major spiritualist faith with a grand prophetic tradition. It has become common among Lesserkin primarily in southern West Ciradon and the regions around the Jeweled Ocean, such as Turangar, Elruth-Marecea, or Mitannia. It is particularly popular among the humans that live or have lived under the dominion of Elderkin states. The heart of the religion is the worship of the spirits, especially the spirits of the sky which they believe had the most influence over human life.
Vaghar-kor, or more properly the Cult of the Divine Rhinoceros, is the religion practiced by most of the orcs and occasionally some of the people groups they've conquered in the past. According to this religion, orcs once lived amongst the heavens with their god Vaghar-kor, the divine rhinoceros. Together they ruled over the races of Tyrrell below. However the orcs are said to have sided with the deceiver Aca-hin and attempted to overthrow their god. When their rebellion failed the orcs were cast out of the heavens and made to suffer in the mortal world below.
However the divine rhinoceros declared to the orcs that their crimes will one day be forgiven once they unite the races of Tyrrell against the deceiver Aca-hin. Vaghar-kor is splintered into several sects and heretical groups, often introducing new or foreign gods, all the while the orcish race continues to fight to earn their old god's mercy. In recent centuries a cult has formed claiming that the old conqurer Purgu'gash has been reborn and will be the one to unite Tyrrell under the banner of Vaghar-kor.
Lunar Mysticism is the primary religion of the Lenian people's in East Parthus, though it has sometimes spread outside this demographic. This religion is centered around ancestor worship, particularly those of emperors, hero's, and other legendary figures of the past. Followers of Lunar Mysticism believe that when an individual who has achieved good deeds dies, they ascend to the other moon's around Tyrrell in the form of angelic spirits. As such astrology plays a huge role in Lunar Mysticism, with many holidays, ceremonies, and traditions held around the positioning of celestial objects in the sky.
Pistofanism is the predominant religion in Vertskli Omospos and is an increasingly popular faith in the surrounding regions of East Ciradon. A monotheistic religion, its sole deity is known as the "Voice of Light". This god is typically depicted as a non-euclidean entity, usually seven wheels of molten gold surrounded by holy flames and blinding halos of light. Pistofanism is well-known for being a "religion of advocacy". Its teachings demand virtuous living from its followers, encouraging them to be the best version of themselves. It also preaches "illumination", the seeking of knowledge for the betterment of the world.
Pistofanism is popular with dwarves, humans, and several other Lesserkin in East Ciradon, though it's notably rarer amongst elves. This religion is notoriously fragmented and decentralized in it's administration. Unlike other religions, it has no 'prime' theologian, with its priests instead forming councils wherein they deliberate on matters of doctrine. However durring the gate wars Pistofanism encouraged people to wage crusades against the Forgotten, whom are believed to be demons. As an evangelistic religion, Pistofanism has missionaries all over Tyrrell attempting to convert individuals of all races.
All Mother Worship is a religion practiced almost exclusively by the Linpith. It revolves around a mother god, often called the "All-Mother", from which the entire Linpith race is descended. She is said to have created all of the world's resources to be exploited by her creations The All-Mother is held to be the one who decides who is born a queen or to an elevated caste. As such Linpith queens are a Clade’s divine representative. This god is the one Linpith pray to for their Clade’s success, and the one they will blame, or simply say is displeased, when failures occur.
Linpith sometimes create shrines for this figure, often portraying her as a giant winged queen. Furthermore, the Linpith believe in some form of divine mandate that every queen is responsible to carry out. However, there is much disagreement among queens as to what the true task is, and much debate has occurred around this matter. Regardless, hard work and bettering the Clade is pleasing to the All Mother, of that there is no argument.
Prakashism is a religion practiced throughout the jungles of Kundalika in East Ciradon. Internally known as the Marshanama Rantuma, meaning the Guided Way, externally known as Prakashism, after the Sage of Light, the Prakasha Guru. The faith includes multiple different pantheons and traditions all blended together into a collective category. Its holy text is known as the Jhagarana Canon, a collection of various texts. Prakashism itself is split in various ways. The Purvatana Rantuma or the Old Ways, the Adhyapaka Rantuma or the Way of the Sage, and the Navanirmita Rantuma or the New Ways.
The Old Ways include nature worship, ancestor worship, and the worship of gods of various local pantheons. The Way of the Sage teaches that while life is full of suffering and has no inherent meaning, one must be life affirming and find meaning in the struggle itself. The New Ways are various religious traditions that developed since the classical period due to outside influence or going against the orthodoxy of both the Old Ways and the Way of the Sage.
