West PARTHUS

West Parthus (pronounced Par-thuus) is a major region of Tyrrell, consisting of everything on the greater Parthus landmass west of the Pharakaatus Mountains plus a few offshore islands. Despite being on the same landmass with East Parthus, West Parthus is an entirely different world, being separated from the domains of the Lesserkin in the east by high mountains and the Grand Parthus Gulf. 

Since ancient times, it has been a stronghold of Elderkin due to its powerful leyline currents, possibly the strongest on all Tyrrell except for the poles. Compared to other Elderkin states, they have access to ancient magic powerful enough to perform feats often unheard of in other Elderkin lands. The most visible expression of this is their awe-inspiring gravity-defying architecture, a sight to behold for anyone who ventures within their lands. 

The immense prosperity and power of the West Parthus Elderkin countries has also made them stagnant and isolationist. Their borders have barely changed since the beginning of the 2nd Age. West Parthus possesses a diverse cultural landscape, though through millennia of peace, the various cultures of West Parthus have slowly diffused with each other to form a shared identity while maintaining regional differences. 

During the War of the Dawn, West Parthus was slow to react. With their isolationist attitude, many considered the war an affair that only concerned those overseas. It was only after the war did West Parthus become fully aware of the war’s implications. In the current day, West Parthus has fully committed itself to the protection of Elderkin civilization across the world. 

It is a mist that surrounds all discussions about a potential future second War of Dawn. Human military planners who were previously confident of a human victory now urge caution as the powerful kingdoms of West Parthus, wielders of the most powerful and ancient magic unseen throughout the world threaten to enter the fray.
