Šovish Lynx

The Šovish Lynx is a species of non-fieldic animal native to Šov. They typically live in the snowy forests and meadows of the far north in West Ciradon. In the 456th year of the Second Age a ship transporting Šovish Lynx to the markets of Eastern Parthus trough the Jeweled Ocean kept all the Lynx in the same cage. They mated quickly, escaped their cages, and caused the ship to run ashore along the southern coast of the Elruth Empire. 

The Lynx spread across the Ruby Sea coast, devouring and destroying the livelihood of the local fishers and farmers. The domino effect over the next hundred years caused the population density of the coast to plumet. And due to the smaller population of the coast allowed the Fourth Gate War to spread as much as it did without resistance.

This is why not only are the transport of animals of different sex on the same vessels illegal on the Ruby Sea, but also why the trims of Unrideli priests robes is made out of Šovian Lynx pelts. This invasive population of were eventually brought under control when Griffins were imported to Elruth from West Parthus in order to prey upon the Šovish Lynx.
