Week 4 - Thumbnails

SHINDY LEONG
Thumbnails can be useful as a warmup exercise, time efficiency, fast iterations and problem solving. I personally found these exercises for today challenging since I tend to spend way too much time creating thumbnails, I would spend at least 1-3 hours to create one thumbnail and this is very time consuming. Working in grayscale can vary depending on what I want to achieve, the value usually comes naturally for me when it comes to the light, mid and dark tones. Although using the Rule of Thumb was helpful and I will definitely use it for my future thumbnail drawings.
Blocking in some basic shapes and working very quickly. I personally liked thumbnail 2 the most. The dark value really sets the scene and the mood, and the overlapping creates a neat perspective.
Working in 2 minutes was quite interesting as it allowed me to get into more ideas and work on the perspective. I liked thumbnail 2 due to its composition and the perspective, although the extra 10 minutes to develop it further was quite difficult for me. The hardest part was how to develop it further within 10 minutes as I tend to get stuck with ideas and details. The outcome wasn't the way I wanted.
Three landscape images with 3 basic values, identifying foreground, midground and background.
