Subobjects are edges and vertices that helps it model the details we need, sub objects are a part of the polygon. Subobjects could be edges, faces and vertices, these creates the detail. Subobjects or componets connects together and the flow around the 3D object, this is called Topology.
The image on the left shows an example of a bad and good 3D model. What creates a bad model is the tris (three edges, triangle) and n-gons (five vertices or more ). Whilst a good model have quads (four edges) and potentioally some tris.
DO
DONT
Topology - The characteristics of a geometric surface on a 3d object, the flow and organisation of edges in a 3d model.
