Week 6- Modelling II - Turn Around
SHINDY LEONG
SHINDY LEONG
Today session was the same as last week's session, instead of creating 'human' characters we created animals. We had to select one animal out of nine, I decided to create a turnaround of a rhinoceros. Using the same methods and tool from last lecture. The purpose of this is to learn how to plan, understand the turnarounds, volume and weight.
Looking into the mistakes I did from last week was to make the foams blocks smaller, by doing this I can build it up and avoid the rectangular shapes. So, comparing today's and last week modeling, the first time went better. I managed to do the same mistake today which I'm quite disappointed about. But I managed get rid of the rectangular shapes afterwards by adding more plasticine. I was also too scared to use too much plasticine, since I was worried it would be too heavy. What I learned from today's practical session is not to worry about it, the plasticine is the key to sculpture and create the volume and weight. And it can always get removed if there is too much of it. I will keep this in mind for next modelling session.

Sketch and turn around
1. Gluing and foiling to create the basic shapes
2. Adding plasticine
(mistake) 3. The foam blocks were too big which prevented me to get rounded edges etc.
4. Cut off a bit of the foam block and added more plasticine. Everything started to look better and it started to look like an actual rhinoceros.
