Cutout animation is a way to produce animation using flat characters, props and backgrounds cut from papers, card board or photos as example. [3] Today's animation is created through computers, the first episode of South Park were made in paper cutouts and were eventually upgraded to computer animation techniques.

I created an arm animation using cutout animation using Toon Boom Harmony Trial. I followed a tutorial by Toon Boom Animation. This exercise was quite difficult but I really enjoyed this cutout animation as it saves a lot of time and makes the animation look smoother. If I didn't have this tutorial, I would have been trying to figure out the timing of the frames. The timing is something I have to work on since I tend to make the movement too quick.
The arm animation is 46 key frames were the upper arm is a parent and lower arm and hand are the children, although the children can have their own functions as well.
