Lip sync animation is a talking individual, or usually called phoneme shapes. Phoneme shapes refers to the lips that can press the lips together, create a round mouth shape etc. This is used for Voice device for a facial animation. Although, vowels are more important than the consonants, this is because it has a different mouth shape than the consonants. Creating more phoneme shapes will give a better animation, as example Fought which has 'AO' or Goat that has 'OW'. [3]

Task 1 was to create a lip sync The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. John Huston (1948) time 0:20 - 0:28, this was created with Toon Boom 5.0. Creating the phoneme shapes using the reference image on the bottom left. I was a bit worried this would be a difficult process but it was easier than the walk cycle and fun. The final lip sync is alright for a first try, I had 9 phoneme shapes used for this exercise. To improve the it, I could have added more phoneme shapes to get a better animation. Such as 'Badges' that is pronounced as 'Bashas' by the guy, adding a phoneme shape as 'SH' would improve the animation.
The second task was to create a character lip sync animation. I found the second task a lot more difficult than the badges mouth animation. The reason was due to the guy spoke extremely fast which made me replay the sound several times to time the phoneme shapes.
Since he spoke extremely fast, I had to be careful and pick out the vowels and translate the words, such as screwed into "skrud". And extend a few of the mouth animations to make it clearer. To improve the animation, I could have added more movement to the character such as the eyes to give him more expression. Although, I still have to work on the timing, and I find this really challenging.
Overall, I'm a bit happy with the outcome since I managed to time it at the middle and the end.
