Etymology

The name 'Freedom' was given to the capital of Woodlandia to honour Sir William Wallace in his struggle for independence and freedom from the English, and similarly Woodlandia's struggle for independence and freedom from English ruled Canada.

Dukedom of Freedom (Duchy of Freedom)

As King of Ardania, Prince Shawn created a second Dukedom from the surrounding free lands of Woodlandia and named it the "Dukedom of Freedom" to coincide with the freedom to do so. On the same day, March 12, 2019, King Shawn passed the Nobility Act 2019, stating that every Duke and Duchess of Freedom must be a member of the royal family, and furthermore, an immediate heir of the current reigning Sovereign Prince or Princess or reserve the title for him/herself.

Principality of Woodlandia

Along with its creation on March 12, 2019, the Dukedom (Duchy) was officially amalgamated with the Kingdom of Ardania to form the Principality of Woodlandia. King Shawn then proclaimed himself the first Hereditary Sovereign Prince of the Principality of Woodlandia.

Borough of Woodlandia

On June 26, 2019, the Dukedom of Freedom was officially declared as one of the Principality of Woodlandia's three boroughs, after a third land claim, the Earldom of Olympia, was created and amalgamated to form the complete and current nation.

Capital of Woodlandia

On the same day of June 26, 2019 on Prince Shawn's birthday, he officially declared Freedom the Capitol of the Principality of Woodlandia.

The town theme of 'Freedom' is centered around the American Frontier/Pioneer Days with Old Western (Wild West) influences, including architecture, culture, government and religion of the era.
